Proper dosing and titration is one of the most important factors in GLP-1 therapy outcomes. Too fast a titration leads to intolerable GI side effects and patient dropout. Why Titration Matters

GLP-1 receptor agonists work in part by slowing gastric emptying and reducing appetite. These same mechanisms produce the most common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. The severity of these side effects is dose-dependent and tends to diminish over time as patients adapt.

Titration — starting at a low dose and gradually increasing — allows patients to adapt to the medication before reaching therapeutic doses. This dramatically improves tolerability and reduces dropout.
